~~Discussion on the Pain and Rewards of Being a Caregiver

CHARLESTON, S.C., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Paul Christo, host of Aches and Gains on SiriusXM Radio, Family Talk 131 today announced that Lisa Niemi Swayze, wife of the late actor Patrick Swayze and Mr. Swayze's caregiver during his battle with pancreatic cancer, will be appearing as his guest on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. EST.  Part II of the interview with Lisa will air on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. EST

Aches and Gains

Lisa will give listeners a rare glimpse into what it was like to care for her husband Patrick Swayze during the last 22 months of his life. She will talk about the physical and emotional pain, the rewards of caregiving, and how the journey has influenced her life.  She will also discuss how her experience is brought to light in her book, Worth Fighting For.

"I am so pleased to be a part of Dr. Christo's show, Aches and Gains. We never wish to face serious illness or injury and its accompanying discomfort and pain, but some of us end up traversing that difficult, unknown territory. That Dr. Christo's show strives to provide a road map through those challenging times is fantastic, and much needed," said Lisa Niemi Swayze

"Lisa Swayze is a very courageous woman. Being a caregiver is certainly a life-changing experience.  It can also be a life-affirming experience.  A caregiver has a vital role in the day-to-day physical health and emotional support of someone who's fighting a life-threatening disease.  I am honored to have Lisa appear on the show to share the challenges of being a caregiver," said Dr. Christo.

The broadcast can be heard on SiriusXM Radio, Family Talk Channel 131 Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST. Podcasts of the show will also be available on www.paulchristomd.com.
