- All teachers will receive the same 15 percent ticket discount as military, first responders and senior citizens -
SALT LAKE CITY, May 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- An apple's a nice gift for a teacher, but a 15 percent discount to Salt Lake Comic Con this September is the gift that kicks off summer on a high note and makes teachers excited about school starting again in the Fall.
Salt Lake Comic Con (http://saltlakecomiccon.com/) today announced that teachers will receive 15 percent off on all tickets to the Salt Lake Comic Con on September 4-6, 2014.
Bruce Coville, the children's, science fiction and young adult author said, "The real heroes are the librarians and teachers who at no small risk to themselves refuse to lie down and play dead for censors." Salt Lake Comic Con agrees and are putting their money where their mouths are by offering teachers a 15 percent discount on all Comic Con tickets for the Second Annual Salt Lake Comic Con that takes place September 4-6 at the Salt Palace Convention center. With the early adopter discount now available, teachers can get Comic Con tickets for more than 50 percent off.
"In many cases, teachers are the driving force behind helping children read and discover their true passions," said Dan Farr, Founder and Show Producer of Salt Lake Comic Con. "We know that for kids that read comic books they tend to be better readers and learn how to read faster. We offer our military and first responder heroes a discount for the services they provide so extending this discount to teachers for their heroic services is a natural fit."
Teachers can get the best prices now with their discount on the Salt Lake Comic Con website. In May, Salt Lake Comic Con organizers announced a new ticket pricing model where ticket prices will start out at 50 percent off and increase over time. This model is designed to reward early adopters, VIP's and returning fans for their support.
"We're committed to keeping prices down as much as we can between now and Father's Day," said Bryan Brandenburg, Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing at Salt Lake Comic Con. "We recognize that Comic Con is for the fans and that we couldn't do any of this without them. When we announced our substantial discounts for students, people begged us to do something for teachers, and so we did."
A teacher, military personnel or first responder can get a Multipass for under $30, saving over 50 percent from the regular $60 ticket. These prices are for a limited time only. Any students, including those at college, business schools or technical schools can buy a 3 day Multipass for around $17, normally $60 retail.
Since announcing the new ticketing strategy in early May, ticket sales have already outpaced sales from the first Salt Lake Comic Con and Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience (FanX) last April by almost 800 percent. In the first week of ticket sales, this September's Comic Con sold more tickets than it did in the first two months after announcing FanX last November or Salt Lake Comic Con 2013, both of which broke state records for the largest convention ever held in Utah and was the largest first year Comic Con in North American history.
